1. Meet the instructor
You will be spending a lot of time with the instructor and at the studio where the training will take place. Drop into the studio take a couple of classes and introduce yourself to the instructor to make sure the vibe works for you. Make sure you connect with the instructor and enjoy their teaching style. You are investing time and money on training so you want to be sure you're picking a program that is right for you.
2. Ask Questions
Ask questions about the days and times the training will take place to make sure it fits your schedule. Inquire about how long the training will last, 10 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks ect. You can also ask how many students will be in your class; this will determine if you will have an intimate experience with a smaller class or build more connections with like-minded people in a larger class. Ask if Yoga Alliance certifies the training, some studios require a certification from a Yoga Alliance RYS (Registered Yoga School).
3. Reputation
You want to make sure the training you choose has a strong program with top quality. Look into the history of the training's held at that studio. If you have access to teachers who have graduated from the program, ask questions to get a better understanding about the program. Look for reviews and get familiar with the studio.
4. Content
There are several different types of yoga teacher training's. Each training focuses on things like philosophy, posture, history and anatomy. Some training's focus more heavily on anatomy or philosophy or the school you choose may put more emphasis on Yin or Restorative yoga. Definitely ask questions about the balance of subjects taught in the training you are considering.
